It’s a new year and I’ve decided it’s time for a new look.
Not a new hair cut and some new clothes – though that would be nice.
But a new website design for Toddlers on Tour.
Getting to the new website design
I originally created the idea for Toddlers on Tour back when my son was first born in 2008 and finally launched the site in 2010. ย So I’ve had this website look for 3 years.
During the 3 years I have taught myself the importance of social media – back then I didn’t even have a Facebook account let alone want one. ย Today I have Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest accounts.
I’ve realised that I had to write a Blog as well; not just put pages of family travel tips out on the web and expect you to just find them amongst the plethora of information that is out there.
Learnt how to format photos; which is becoming more important with Pinterest, Twitter and shortly I will join the masses on Instagram.
Plus I’ve discovered the need to comment on other people’s Blogs and Forums and build relationships with these people who live thousands of miles away.
Also during the 3 years, Blogging platforms have altered tremendously and what was cutting edge then – is now old school. ย Which has resulted in me feel the constraints of my old Blog theme.
So with much trepidation I have finally settled on a new Blog theme, learnt a bit of CSS, altered photos and this is my new website design.
What do you think?
Please be honest, so that I can improve the website as much as possible for you to enjoy returning to again and again.
I’m looking at it on my iPad and it seems simple to navigate, which is good. Not too cluttered and I love a white background for blogs. I like the social media icons at the top too..how do you do that? Heh
Oh ya I’m launching my new blog design this week Thursday too. Would love for you to have a look when ready ๐
I will pop back on Thursday and have a look.
The social media icons were part of the theme I chose to use through WordPress. So many themes to choose from just have weed through to find one you like.
It looks great! Good luck to you with it. I also re-hashed my blog this past week. If I feel bored looking at it I figure others might too! ๐
That’s a good point Jody.
I’m popping over to check yours out now.
Well done! I think your new website looks great – very professional. I can tell that a lot of work has gone into it. The navigation is very clear and you can access all your valuable information easily.
Thanks Jo,
I really appreciate the positive comments.
Looks great! Inspired me to think about my own bloggy make over! ๐
Thank you Grace,
I have to say it took me a long time to take the plunge and alter the look.
You always put in so much heart and sole when creating your site it’s hard to let go of the old.
Looks great! I had a look at using this theme too. Love what you’ve done with it.
Thank you Jess
I love it and well done on the big change. I REALLY want to do this but have no idea bout HTML and not enough money to get someone to do it, it’s my EOY goal! Keep up the good work Sally ๐
Thanks Emily,
I am alot like you I can’t afford to pay someone to create a really mind blowing site.
So I have just used one of the free themes through WordPress then watched and read all the information provided to edit it. Through this I have learnt a little HTML to get by.
Good luck with your EOY goal.
Looks great! I love people who have Comment Luv so it’s easy to check out other blogs. I’m still on Blogger but have it redirected it to my domain. The thing I like about Blogger is its connection to Google.
Yes I like Comment Luv as well, it’s a great way to discover some new blogs.
