Back in 2014 we took a family holiday to Penang and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel.
The music is pumping day and night providing a lively backdrop for all the things to do during our family holiday at the Hard Rock Hotel Penang.
Things to do at Penang’s Hard Rock Hotel
Splish Splash.
My main reason for choosing to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel was the water park and it did not disappoint.
- With a splash zone.

Splash Zone
- Three water slides that both adults and children can zoom down.

Waterslides
- A sand bottom toddlers pool.

Toddlers pool
- And if we wanted a bit of peace and quiet we could escape to the far end of the longest free form pool in Penang.

The quiet end of the pool
More Kids Stuff
There is a kids club and teens club at the resort. However, I didn’t get any photos because my son Lewis didn’t want to participate.
Take Time to Look after Yourself
There is a day spa for you and your young one to be pampered.

Day Spa
Once a week in the garden outside the spa there is yoga or on wet days they utilise the gym.

The Gym
Get Social
There was never a chance to get board at the Hard Rock Hotel Penang with their scheduled list of afternoon activities.
Every afternoon kicks off with a 20-minute loud dance party followed by various inclusive activities like:
- car racing
- marble races

Marble race
- water pillow fights

Pillow fight
- sea scooter lessons
- sumo wrestling

Then once a month the highlighted activity of the foam party is scheduled. There is one party for the kids followed by one for the adults.
Tantalize Your Taste buds
There are 2 breakfast buffets one inside at Starz Cafe and one outside near the beach, at the Pizzeria – this one is our favourite, the music is much more mellow.

Pizzeria buffet breakfast
For us, lunch is often poolside from the Shack that has food supplied from Starz Cafe and the Pizzeria. We love the pizzas and the Nasi Goreng.
We also love the high tea up at the Club. Scones with jam and cream whilst looking out the waves rolling in along the beach and the para-gliders sailing past – so decadent.

High tea
Chill Out
If all this gets too much you can always sit back in the lobby bar each evening and listen to the wonderful free live entertainment.
Or hire a poolside cabana, munch on the fresh fruit and stay oblivious to everything that is happening around you.

Cabana

That looks super fun. I think my nieces would enjoy this very much. And it looks like there’s something for the adults to do as well?
That was the best part Hung, that water park was for EVERYONE in the family to enjoy. I had many a ride down those slides too.
I’ve never stayed at a Hard Rock Hotel. Did swing by one in Macau, and it looked kinda cool 🙂
Cool, would definitely be the best description for a Hard Rock Hotel Bea.
I love this. I think it’s great that there is such a fun place to cool off and let the kids get some of their pent up energy out.
Exactly Corinne, our son was always happy to just relax and watch a movie by the time we went back to the room – meaning pace and quiet for mum and dad.
I lived about 20 minutes away from the Hard Rock Hotel Penang and had a day use membership there along with many of my friends. We had so many playdates there. We once went on vacation to Phuket, and I told my husband that it was to be a relaxing time where we would just spend time at the hotel pool and beach. He replied with “Isn’t that what you do every week at the Hard Rock?” He was right. It’s truly one of the things that I miss most about moving away. My tweens really enjoyed the Teen Club with its pool table and video games. The one drawback to the foam party is that absolutely no adults were allowed in with the kids. My friend’s four-year-old daughter really wanted her mum to go in with her, but she couldn’t and ended up wasting the money.
Oh that was a shame for your friend Michele, though the foam party is free for in-house guests. It’s good to know that the tweens were welcome in the kids club, my son is getting that bit older now and would like to play in the games rooms and not the kids club.
The Hard Rock in Penang looks like so much fun for everyone in the family. I will keep it in mind as I have a little guy on the way and it could be a perfect place for us to stay in the future. Plus, my husband and I met at a Hard Rock which makes it all the more special!
I can see why the Hard Rock has a special meaning to you Constance – not many people can say that met at the Hard Rock.
Howeverif you plan on travelling to Penang with a small toddler I would suggest you also check out the Golden Sands by Shangri-La, we stayed there on our first trip to Penang when our son was a toddler. It was a great hotel for small children. You can read about that trip here: http://toddlersontour.com.au/penang-with-toddler/
Thanks for sharing this on #TheWeeklyPostcard. We hope to go to Malaysia this year and of course Penang will be on the itinerary. I was thinking about going for just one night but I’m reconsidering. I’m not in the habit of relaxing when we travel but I might stay an extra day or two just because this hotel would keep me plenty entertained. The pool looks wonderfully tempting – I would probably monopolize the slide.
Oh Linda you need way more time than one night for Penang. Yes the beaches and the resort pools are great for relaxing but there is so much to see and do as well. Probably why Penang is one of my favourite South East Asian destinations.
