Things to do in Busselton and Surrounds, WA 3

Since writing this post we have returned to the Busselton and Margaret River Region several more time.  You can read our latest tips on things to do in Busselton on our new site Tips 4 Trips.

The Margaret River Region has long been a favourite holiday destination for West Australians.  The region extends from the southern town of Augusta up to the town of Busselton  – making it the closest point (a mere 225km or a 2½ hour drive) from the West Australian capital city Perth.  Therefore a great base for anyone driving with kids or anyone who doesn’t want too long a road trip.

The Margaret River Region boasts delicious wineries, great surfing and a huge selection of things to do in Busselton and the greater Margaret River Region.

I’ve been visiting this region since I was a child, now I’m enjoying taking my son.  We have found so many great things to do in Busselton and a few more we have yet to try.

Themed Attractions

There are a number of themed parks and attractions to keep not only the kids amused but also the whole family – even if you don’t have kids.  We’ve visited a couple of these (highlighted in green) and looking forward to trying the rest – which I have heard good things about.

Nature Activites

Busselton and the Margaret River Region sits just outside the stunning Cape Naturalist national park.  This sets a great backdrop to enjoy some fun activities and the natural beauty.

I haven’t made it down there yet, but I have heard so many great things. As you may already know, I love wine and local produce so it’s definitely in my plans to travel along the West Coast and pay a visit to Margaret River at the same time. Loving the list of local food producers! Have you been to any wineries? Any recommendations?

You’ll love it when you get there Kreete. I loved doing all the wineries in my pre-kid days. There are so many good places with lots you rarely see in the bottle shop. The best is to just stop in each for a small taste as you pass by – though personally, I prefer to avoid the bigger more well-known wineries and go for the smaller local wineries. Try Laurance for a good lunch spot.

Some good hits there! We visited China by the end of last year for sure I agree with your post. You can plan everything, get your list done but there are things that you don’t know as you travel. Nice.
