Photo Flashbacks: Butterflies in Penang 14

Last year during our family holiday to Penang we visited the Penang Butterfly Farm.

(UPDATE 2016: Penang Butterfly Farm is now known as Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm)

From the moment we walked through the door we felt as though we had been transported to a magical place.

Butterflies in a rainbow of colours fluttering up close and personal will have that effect on you.

I could not believe how close I was able to get to these beautiful insects, and to my surprise, my simple digital camera was able to take some fantastic shots, something I would have thought was only reserved for those with the most elaborate of cameras.

Come and see what my little camera was able to capture.

We were in a beautiful tropical garden filled with lots of colourful plants and the butterflies could be seen on an array of foliage.

Remember how I said you could get up close and personal with the butterflies.  I wasn’t joking.

But when we stumbled upon the free guided tour we discovered that this was the star of the show.

What wonderful photos. Earlier in the year I went to RHS Wisley and saw the butterflies in the hot house there, a fantastic experience 🙂 #mondayescapes

You were able to take some awesome photos. I love butterflies (hence the name of my blog) but I have to learn to be patient when taking their photos. I haven’t been to good butterfly farm in a long time.

I never knew that one could manage to take such close up photos of butterflies! Have always thought that when you’re about to take a picture of them, they would fly away immediately…beautiful images you have there. I’m from Malaysia, so I should make a visit to the butterfly farm one day and to take photos of them 🙂 #MondayEscapes

I was so stunned Kat that I was able to get so many fantastic shots with my point and click camera. As long as you stayed calm and weren’t too noisy the butterflies stayed relatively still for a short time.

I’ve only been to one or two butterfly places, but those in tropical areas are always miles better than the ones here in England! It looks like there was a good variety of butterflies – and such colourful ones, too. What a lovely place for a day trip!

It was only the second butterfly farm I have visited the first was in Melbourne years before. I think they are better in tropical zones because they have the right climate and don’t have to try and artificial create a tropical zone.

Wow, love the beautiful photos~! The butterflies actually landed on your phone and toes.. Cool! Never knew of this place, despite it being so close to Singapore. When I went to Penang, all I could think of was food. :p

Not surprising that all you thought of is food as Penang is known for its wonderful fusion of multicultural dishes, but there are also some great family friendly activities.

Fantastic shots! I don’t think I’ve yet to capture a butterfly with my camera. We keep trying to find a deal to Penang that fits our schedule. One more reason to keep looking!
