Those warm sunny days have slipped away. I am now waking up rugged up from the cold and looking out at the grey clouds. Already I am thinking up ways to escape winter and thaw out where it is summer.
What about a trip to the USA?
Taking the Kids and Family Travel Forum have inspired me with their Summer Vacation Ideas and there’s a lot to choose from in the USA’s 3.79 million miles² or 9.3 million km² made up 50 states and 1 federal republic.
I saw families camping, riding their bikes and frolicking in the water falls at Yosemite National Park.
Older tweens and teens were loving the thrills at Universal Studios.
Then there were the kids; big and small, young and old loving Disneyland. How can you not love Disneyland?
And to top it off you’re out in the warm sunshine where your chills are being baked away.
Did you love the thought of Disneyland but can’t get to LA? Well there’s another one 4000km/2500miles away on the other side of the continent in Orlando.
Don’t want to be in the tropics of Florida? That’s OK there’s Disney Cruises and Disney Resorts all over the place, even all the way out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii.
Hmmm, Hawaii is on my bucket list. Oh and the thought of frolicking on white sandy beaches and in the blue sea. Plus my son really wants to learning to surf, and would enjoy visiting plantations and discovering Pearl Harbour.
Perhaps your trip is more likely to be a city stay? Taking the Kids mention there are some Kids Guides to some major US cities, to help your kids discover these great cities in a fun and engaging way.
Or would you rather just step outside the US and visit the Caribbean or Mexico, I loved Mexico (the other time I escaped winter to the Americas).
Plus this is where you can find some great all-inclusive resorts. Our little family loves these types of resorts.
With their great water parks and kids clubs it is truly a relaxing holiday for the entire family.
Are you ready to escape winter and discover where summer’s arriving?

It would be my DREAM to take the kids to the US! If I start saving now hopefully we’ll get there in 6 years or so, my kids will be 12, 10 and nearly 8, great ages right? I am freezing right now and could SO do with some beach time! Emily – also visiting as part of #teamIBOT
The US is a long trip from Perth Emily. So currently we are planning on visiting in 3 years time my son will be 10 so the long plane trip should be easier and hopefully he will remember the holiday. As opposed to the cool buses he road in on Sentosa Island – that’s what he remembers from Singapore.
I hope to take my kids to Disneyland one day.
And I went to Hawaii last year – LOVED it! There’s so much to see and do, and the shopping was TO DIE FOR. Hawaii has many faces though, the glamorous, bustling Waikiki was awesome, but the tropical Hilo was just amazing. And the volcanoes. Wow. Get there 🙂
Yes Disneyland is on my list of places to visit as a family as well. I went there before kids and really enjoyed the day so I can oply imagine how good it will be seeing it through my son’s eyes.
Wow those look like awesome places to escape the winter chill. We’ve only just gotten our first winter snap here in Central Queensland.
I’m jealous that you’ve only just started to feel winter, it’s been cold in Perth for well over a month now.
We’re taking the kids to Disneyland in 2 weeks! Very excited and can’t wait to hit the warm Californian climate for 12 days!!
How exciting Kirsten, I’m so envious 🙂
