Phuket is a favourite family holiday destination in Thailand. There are multiple choices for family accommodation at varying prices all along the Andaman Sea from the north-west beaches in Bang Tao Bay to the southern sands at Kata Beach.
However taking a family holiday to Phuket is not just about sitting at the resort. No doubt you will also want to find some things to do in Phuket and explore Phuket with day trip activities.
20 Things To Do in Phuket with Kids
Shows and Theme Parks
- FantaSea
- When we took a Phuket family holiday one of our favourite activities in Phuket was seeing the spectacle that is FantaSea.

- Depending on how you feel this one may not be for the kiddys – it is a transvestite show.

- Dino Park Mini Golf
Animal Parks and Tours
- Elephant Trekking – there are 5 parks to choose from Siam Safari (UPDATE: closed Jan 17), Safari Elephant Club, Kok Chang Safari, and Camp Chang Kalim.

Shopping
- Phuket Town Markets are open from late afternoon on the weekends.
- We enjoyed meandering about the maze of stalls offering toys, clothes, shoes, DVD’s and local foods. You will find both tourists and locals visit these markets.

Great list and very helpful tips! I haven’t visited Phuket but would love to go. Thanks for sharing! #TheWeeklyPostcard
You’re welcome Cindy, I hope you get the chance to visit Phuket one day.
Never been to Phuket but I am dying to go (will be happy if I make it to any place in Thailand). I like to explore beyond the resorts too. I am mostly interested in the animal parks and natural attractions.
You will find so many places to visit throughout Thailand Ruth, with animal parks and natural attractions it such a pretty place.
I’d love to take the family to Phuket. I particularly like the sound of elephant trekking and the waterfalls and James Bond island – and the wonderful beaches of course! #TheWeeklyPostcard
Ahh, so many great things to see Clare, I am hoping that we can go back to Phuket for another family holiday next year.
Hi Sally-Ann, I don’t have any children but these tips sounds really good and I am sure the infographic will be useful for those families planning a trip to Phuket! ~Jessica
P.S. Laurence just left you a comment in response to your comment on our travel photography post 🙂
Hi Jessica, the beauty of many of these things on the infograph is that many are great things to do even without the kids.
I am now popping back over to you to see my comment from Laurence.
Thank you for stopping by Toddlers on Tour
I would not have thought of kid activities in Phuket but you compiled quite the list! I’d love to go see the temples!
Phuket is one of those great destination that suits couples, seniors, backpackers and families. My hope Cathy is that this infograph will help everyone not just the families.
Thank you for stopping by Toddlers on Tour
The first time I’ve heard about Phuket was during that horrible tsunami and somehow I can’t think about this place in a good way. I’m sure it’s a paradise for families with children, but I am surprised they have rebuilt so soon.
I know that Tsunami was so horrendous and as such is still so vivid in all our minds Anda, but it is actually quite surprising how time has flown – the Tsunami was back in 2004.
Great tips Sally! I had no idea how children friendly Phuket is. Great that there is so much to do apart from staying in the resort all the time 😀
Thank you for joining #MondayEscapes
Whilst I love a good resort Allane, I also want to be able to get out and explore, to me the whole point of travel is to see something that is different.
